Summer Reading List

Hi friends! Summer is seriously flying by… or is that just life in general. It tends to go fast if we’re not careful. We are busy soaking in the family time, traveling, but mostly, lets be honest, the just plain relaxing time. By some kind of time management miracle, I’m able to read more than ever. I’m sure it has to do with the fact that I get up a little earlier in the mornings and I don’t have a jam packed schedule currently. But I do really love that my boys are now at the age that they play quietly together (or separate) for longer than 20 minutes. It’s making for an easy going summer that I can’t get enough of, no matter what state we’re in.

I have been asked by friends and family lately to share a complete list of some favorite reads. I tend to share a picture of a few lines on Instagram stories and sure enough someone always asks what book is that… So why not put them all together in one place? Honestly I screenshot books, take pictures in the bookstore if I’m not ready to buy or add to a list in notes on my phone anytime someone recommends a book that interests me.   Currently I am in a season of life/motherhood where I am striving to be the best mama, woman of God, wife, and person. So the books I gravitate towards are ones with those aspects in mind. I hope one (or more) of these is new to you and you find them interesting too.

This is Me:  was a fantastic read. It is more than just her bio, which is how I originally found it. Throughout the entire book she adds in little messages of empowerment and life lessons to promote self-love and acceptance. So worth the read. Added bonus if you already love the show This is Us.

Girl Wash Your Face: was a one of my favorite books this summer. I have recommended it to so many girlfriends and will continue to do so! It is empowering, honest, and so full of truth and passion. I’m positive this book can help every woman out there grow! Do yourself a favor and read it! Rachel Hollis does not disappoint.

Uninvited: Honestly this was a little tough for me to read. It’s not that I haven’t felt those feelings of rejection or left out. But at this point in my life they are so far behind I thought maybe I didn’t really need to read this anymore (it’s been on my bookshelf for awhile). However, I am glad I powered through and finished it. It provided some fresh perspective and highlighted a few relationships with others for me.

Everybody Always: I actually haven’t officially started this one. I plan to tomorrow morning. With the cover page reading,” Becoming Love in a World full of Setbacks and Difficult People” I’m excited to dive into it!

Encouragement for Today: I am still currently reading. Just one excerpt a day and it is wonderful. It has met my needs daily on more than one occasion which I’m convinced is a “God-thing”. It is full of wonderful reminders, questions, and encouragements. I love how each devotional reads with scripture and a Remember, Reflect, Respond section.

Next up on my List are the following books… meaning they are already in my Amazon cart I just haven’t hit buy yet.

An Intentional Life: A Life-Giving Invitation to Uncover Your Passions and Unlock Your Purpose by Karen Stott

Hope Unfolding: Grace-Filled Truth for the Momma’s Heart by Becky Thompson

Come Matter Here: Your Invitation to Be Here in a Getting There World by Hannah Brencher

How to Get Sh*t Done: Why Women Need to Stop Doing Everything so They Can Achieve Anything by Erin Falconer

Little House on the Freeway: Help for the Hurried Home by Tim Kimmel

Hope you have found something new…. it’s so fun to share books. Happy Reading Friends!! Feel free to comment some of your favorite books below!

  1. Doing Seamless by Angie Smith right now a 7-week study. Love Angie and the P31 ladies. I’ve read Steven Furtick’s Seven Mile Miracle ( a Lenton study), Keep Everything, 1st book in a trilogy. Excited to get the others read this year too. not much of a reader but getting better as I allow myself the freedom to just be. Am currently reading The Saturday Evening Girls Club by Jane Harley. Love that you are mixing it up and doing a devotion also. Putting God First!
