16 weeks & a Surprise trip to Seattle

We had a very eventful past few weeks

Sadly Brad’s grandmother passed away, I may not have known the woman very well but I know from the stories she was pretty amazing and that Brad cared (still does) for her deeply. I am sad that our little one wont get to meet her but I know that Brad will keep her memory alive by making sure our child knows all about her and wont be “a piece of lace”.
After the news we made a spur of the moment decision to fly to Seattle for a weekend getaway. Thanks to my wonderful best friends mom we were able to make it happen quickly and fairly cheap 🙂 It was great to surprise our parents (which they were completely shocked, possibly they still are) and so nice to  just relax for a long weekend.

When we got home we had our first appointment with the new doctor. She is fantastic. I love that she was so willing to just talk to us and I felt as though she was listening. It was a nice change. We got to start the appointment with an ultrasound…
Baby looks great! Even though lil one didn’t want to show it’s face. Just like daddy “no pictures please”. We can’t wait until a month from now when we get to have the full anatomy scan and see all of the little body parts. We did get to check out one very important part at this appointment and we are thrilled to know the sex of our baby. I will post again in the next week or so to reveal that. But I want it to sink in first. We couldn’t be happier and once the triple screen blood test comes back with more positive healthy baby news I’ll be over the moon happy. Who knew that these little tests could be so stressful.

Officially we are at the 4 month mark…

Little baby Jenkins is now listening to my voice, thanks to tiny bones forming in the ears, also growing hair lashes and eyebrows and forming taste buds.

How far along: 16 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: 7lbs
Maternity clothes? Not really, I probably should though things are getting sorta tight.
Stretch marks? None yet. Thank goodness
Sleep: Some nights are better than others. We got a new bed and last night I finally slept 7 hours without getting up. I might have just been exhausted though.
Best moment this week: Finding out what little baby is!!!
Have you told family and friends: They all pretty much know now. There are a few exceptions but we’ll get there.
Miss Anything? I want to run. But lately I lack the motivation… and last time I tried it hurt.
Movement: Not feeling it yet. Just feeling the “round ligament pains”
Food cravings: Salmon (thank goodness for Washington) and fruit still
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Have you started to show yet: yes it’s no longer going away in the morning.
Gender prediction: That’s easy 🙂 We aren’t ready to tell everyone yet but a few of the very privileged know. We’ll get there eventually.
Labor Signs: none.
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? On. Except some nights my fingers swell so I’ll take off my ring.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I feel like a roller coaster haha.
Weekly Wisdom: Do all the little things that make you happy.
Looking forward to: buying baby things. getting our house.
